This leg begins near the Romanesque parish church. Take the road climbing east among the houses and head straight crossing mixed woods for about 3 km, until you reach Pareto hamlet (631 mt sl).
As you find the first house of the hamlet, turn right onto a steep dirt track among cultivated fields and thickets, then skirt Mount Caponega (760 mt sl) and head straight after a series of ascents and descents until you reach Cella di Varzi hamlet, walking along the ruins of the castle.
As you reach the asphalted road, go ahead rightward, climbing the hamlet and crossing the Temple of Fraternity, then walk down a dirt road until you reach a little church called Cappelletta della Costa and, after about 30 minutes, a source near Selvapiana hamlet (770 mt sl).
