From the hotel of Capanne di Cosola (m 1496 sl) you continue towards Bogli for 500m, then turn right on a dirt road that is steep and up-hill which takes you first to the summit of Monte Cavalmurone (m 1670 sl) and immediately after Monte Legnà (m 1669 sl).

Going down the ridge you reach Sella di Cartasegna (m 1466 sl), keeping to your left you go into a beech woods and you leave Monte Carmo on your left outflanking it on the westside. At the road sign which shows the change of region you go right on a dirt road that takes you through woods and fields, a grass slope along the watershed between the valleys of Trebbia and Borbera.
You go up mildly through fields with a lovely view of Monte Carmo, Lesima and Alfeo; you arrive at a small flat picnic area, in a few minutes you reach a plateau where you are able to see beautiful views of Lago del Brugneto. There is a mild descent towards the west and you arrive at the Passo delle Tre Croci (m1495 sl).
